Riders Up! at Lake Fork Stables exists to help local families by providing free and reduced rate riding lessons to low income, autistic, military, and foster kids.
Who knew at the beginning of the year we would be starting a charity in the midst of a pandemic. Because we are so new, we did not qualify for any government assistance or other grants, as we were not directly involved with COVID care. Grants and funding that we had been promised, were put on hold as businesses had to stop charitable spending.
We shut down for a couple of months, but after the Governor opened up more services, we resumed serving our children in June. If anybody needed normalcy in their lives, it was them. They needed the fresh air, interaction with the horses, and something else to think about for just one hour out of the week.
This is why I am humbly asking for your support. By contributing to Lake Fork Stables, you will help us to continue serving our community. We have many ideas and plans for the upcoming year and other organizations to partner with to brighten the day and improve the lives of others in our community.
We will be offering another semester of Horses 101 for Homeschoolers, Spring Day Camp, and more. Riders Up! is also the only program in East Texas offering the Horse Boy Method for autistic children.
Your gift will help us fund these children’s programs and to help get kids off of our waiting list, so they can receive the life-changing equine therapy that they need. All funds received go directly into our program to feed and care for the horses as well as sponsor riders lessons.
Every little bit helps. $14 buys a bag of feed, $35 sponsors one riding lesson, $40 trims a horse’s hooves and $150 sponsors one rider for an entire month!
From all of us at Riders Up!, we thank you for your enduring support this year and wish you a healthy and happy end to 2020. Please help us make the end of 2020 Merry & Bright for the kids at Riders Up!
